Book dust jackets from the art institution's library, clips
Nudes is a newly commissioned site-specific installation featuring the dust jackets of books from the GfZK library. The artist is interested in tracing time, as books, covered in dust jackets, pass through the hands of their readers and are marked by years of use. By featuring the outer covers of the books, she highlights the presence of empty “shells”, equating books with crustacean. Pointing towards the “bodies” inside the dust jackets, the title implies that the “nudes” are stripped from the cloak of informa- tion they are expected to carry.
